We are thrilled to announce that the updated version of Banner and Announcement is now live on the dashboard. To configure it, navigate to the Configuration section and select Banner and Announcement, as shown below.

This feature allows publishers to update, arrange, and remove banners and announcements on website pages directly.

Note: Only Owners and Admins can access this configuration section.

How to Set Up Banner and Announcement

To set up Banner and Announcement, go to the sidebar and click on the Configuration section.

To get started with Banner and Announcement Configuration, go to the Banner and Announcement section.

Here we have certain fields which are Position, Banner Slot Name, Status, Slot type, Updated on, Updated by and Actions.

  • Position: It shows the slot position, which can be used to visualise using a slot image.

Note: Position has a standard naming convention for slots, which defines the position. The slot name consists of two words: the first word indicates the device, and the second word indicates the page. "HP" stands for Home Page, "CP" stands for Category Page, and "AP" stands for Article Page. The last word indicates the position.

For example, "Mobile_ap_top" indicates that this slot is for the mobile version

on the article page in the top position. as shown in slot icon.

  • Banner Slot Name: It describes slot names, as we can have multiple slots in a single slot position so it helps to differentiate.

  • Status: It shows if the slot is activated or inactivated, we can change the status of the slot using the toggle button.

  • Updated on: It shows the last updated date.

  • Updated by: It shows details of the User who made updates recently.

  • Actions: Using this section you can edit the slot.

  • Slot type: it shows the slot type applied, we currently have 3 different types of slots which are Image type, Rich Text Snippet and Custom  Code Snippet.

Slot Types

Image Type: You can upload an image of different sizes with a URL. To upload an image, follow the media upload feature. Enter the target URL and select the size according to the device. The slot status is active by default. If you don’t want it to be live immediately, you can change the status to inactive. Overrides on category and article pages are also possible.

Rich Text Snippet: Use this for notifications. Enter the notification content in the content field. The slot status is active by default. If you don’t want it to be live immediately, you can change the status to inactive. Overrides on category and article pages are also possible.

Custom Code Snippet: Paste any code (e.g., GAM tag or other scripts) into the head or body. Enter the code in the content field. The slot status is active by default. If you don’t want it to be live immediately, you can change the status to inactive. Overrides on category and article pages are also possible.

Override Functionality

To set an override, click on "Add Override."

Overrides only affect the selected slot type. They can be based on categories, tags, or authors, providing flexibility in content management. You can select at least one of these criteria to customize the override settings. For example, if you choose categories, the override will apply specifically to the content within those categories. Similarly, if you select tags or authors, the override will be tailored to the specified tags or authors. This allows for precise control over the content displayed in the selected slot.

Category Override: If you select a category, the override will apply to that category only. Other articles will remain the same.

Tags & Author Override: If you select tags, the override will apply to any article associated with those tags or authors.

Once you upload an image or fill in the required fields, you can save it, and it will be reflected on the website.

Note: In starting, this section is blank. You need to raise a ticket to activate the required slots before configuring the banner and announcement section.
